About This
This is a blog about the tell-tale signs that you’re over 40,
apart from your birth certificate.
I turned 40 in 2011, and clearly it’s taken a few years to sink in.
But now, approaching the age of 42 – a magic number, as all Douglas Adams fans know – I want to start writing about it.
About the things I’ve learned. About the things that have changed.
About the things that are now either glaringly apparent or completely flummoxing. Or more likely, both.
About what it’s like to be over 40 – for me, at least. And hopefully for some of you. Dear god, I hope I’m not alone in all this…
Me (back, fourth from right, channelling Sheena Easton),
approximately 24 years before I knew what it was like to be over 40

you’re so not alone in this. Thank you.
That’s good to know
42 is a fabulous age! It’s fun being the answer to life, the universe and everything, even if only for 12 months… thanks for the fun reads.
Thank you – and thanks for reading!
Excited to have found your site! I turned 40 in September and decided I would spend my 40th year doing corporal and spiritual works of mercy and writing about it. Of course, that’s not exactly the same thing but still I love that you are writing about the forties! Everyone told me they would be so great blah, blah, blah and you know what I was such a happy girl at 39! Now I feel like I am 12 again — with a much slower metabolism!
Ha! And good for you, doing all that good work. There are definitely wonderful things about getting older, and tougher things… But I find it all interesting, and that’s why I set up this blog. Hope you enjoy my posts!
Ah, 42…think I can just about remember 2004
I like the idea behind your blog and look forward to future posts.
What amazes me about being this age is when I can speak with authority about stuff that happened 30 or 40 years ago. Surely only old people can do that?! I love nostalgia but it’s not what it used to be, of course…
Hellos! May I suggest something please? There is a widget for Email Subscriptions that will allow people (like me that don’t use the Google Reader often enough) to get notifications of new posts via email!
It would be an awesome way to allow those that want to follow your blog to do so!!
Thank you!!
Done! Thanks for the top tip
Awesome! And I’ve subscribed!
Not sure if I should be following a blog for the over 40′s – wonder if there’s one for the over 50′s out there?!! Still, love your posts!
You should set one up..!
As someone said, “Life begins at 40″
Cheers!
You are definitely not alone! In fact the great majority of people (nah ladies) are like you. To me, forties was like the end of the world. I used to believe that reaching 40 means that your life came to an end and that I would die before reaching 40. But here I am, alive and having so much to look forward to. Your posts put it in a funny way. I did enjoy them greatly. Keep them coming.
Thank you
. And you’re right: there’s so much to look forward to!
I turned 42 this year as well. It was fun to find your blog!
Thanks – I hope you enjoy it!
I’m a year behind you ….interesting times
